Jewelry Care Guide
At TREOKAI, we create jewelry designed to last a lifetime—pieces that hold meaning, tell stories, and can be passed down for generations. To ensure the longevity of your jewelry, proper care and maintenance are essential. Below, you’ll find guidance on how to protect and preserve your treasured pieces.
Daily Wear & Handling
Jewelry is meant to be worn, but it is important to remember that precious metals and gemstones can be delicate. Avoid wearing jewelry during activities that could expose it to impact, pressure, or abrasion, such as exercise, manual labor, or sleeping. Be mindful of how you wear your jewelry—rings and bracelets, in particular, are more prone to scratches and wear due to daily use.
Storage
Always store your jewelry in a soft-lined box or pouch, ideally in its original TREOKAI packaging, to prevent scratches and tangling.
Avoid keeping jewelry in humid places such as bathrooms, as moisture can accelerate tarnishing. Keep pieces separate to avoid them scratching against each other.
Cleaning and maintenance
To clean your jewelry at home, use a soft toothbrush and mild soap with lukewarm water. Gently brush the metal and stones, then rinse and pat dry with a lint-free cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, toothpaste, or ultrasonic cleaners unless advised by a professional, as they can damage delicate stones or settings. For a deeper clean and polish, bring your piece to the TREOKAI workshop for professional servicing.
Gold & Diamond Jewelry Care
Gold is a durable yet soft metal, which means it can develop scratches over time. Regular polishing can help maintain its shine. Remove gold jewelry before swimming, as chlorine can weaken the metal over time.
While diamonds are the hardest natural material, they can still chip or become loose in their setting if struck. Avoid wearing diamond jewelry during high-impact activities. Clean diamonds with a soft toothbrush and mild soap to maintain their brilliance, as oils and lotions can make them appear dull.
Gemstone & Pearl Care
Different gemstones require different care, as some are more delicate than others. Avoid sudden temperature changes, which can cause fractures in stones such as opals and emeralds. Many gemstones, including emeralds, opals, and sapphires, should not be exposed to harsh chemicals or ultrasonic cleaners.
Pearls should be worn often, as natural skin oils help maintain their luster. However, they are sensitive to soaps, perfumes, and hairsprays. After wearing, gently wipe pearls with a soft, damp cloth to remove any residue. Store pearls separately from other jewelry to prevent scratching. Pearl necklaces should be restrung annually, as the silk cord they are strung on can stretch or weaken over time.
Service & Maintenance
To ensure the longevity of your jewelry, visit the TREOKAI workshop at least once a year for a professional service check. We will inspect stone settings, clean and polish your piece, and provide any necessary repairs. If your jewelry has been dropped, snagged, or exposed to impact, bring it in immediately for a check-up to prevent further damage.
By following these care guidelines, your jewelry will remain as beautiful as the day it was made.
